I will be going to Volta Redonda has anyone been their or have any info about it?

I'm going to visit a friend but just wanted to know if anyone has traveled to this city I know it's two hours by car from Rio De Janiero but just wanted some info on this city?

Most of the info that people already gave you here is correct but being a Rio native currently living abroad I would have to say that Volta Redonda is VERY different from your typical idea of what Rio is (forget everything you've seen in terms of pictures of Rio :--) )



It is a highly industrial place and pretty empoverished, especially when compared to the nicer areas of Rio.



I would make sure the person you're going to visit has enough time to show you around before you venture off on your own. I guess this is just a polite way of saying that the area isn't the safest around.

I heard there's an exposition going on in Volta Redonda about native Brazilian culture. It's in Centro de Cultura do UniFoa, in Três Poços (your friend will probably know where that is).

yes , industrial city , some 140 kms , from rio de janeiro.

not ugly , not special , just as all other cities in rio de janeiro state , good nightlife
